Bruce is based in Yeppoon, working as the Regional Managing Partner of five Central Queensland based community pharmacies. He is also an accredited consultant pharmacist and finds domiciliary and nursing home based medication reviews a very rewarding part of his role. He has major clinical interests in Aged Care, Pain Management and Chronic Disease Management, particularly Cardiovascular Health and Diabetes.
Bruce has enjoyed a long association working with the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA). He is the immediate past President of the PSA (Queensland Branch) and also was an active National Board Director between 2009 and 2011. He held numerous other executive positions within the PSA such as, Chair of the National Membership Working Group and the Queensland Branch Continuing Education Committee and was a member of board sub- committees including the Business Development, Practice Improvement and Early Career Pharmacist working groups.
In 2009, Bruce was honoured to be awarded the PSA Young Australian Pharmacist of the Year for his work in enhancing the delivery and access of continuing pharmacist education across rural and regional Queensland. Professions Australia also recognised his work in this area presenting him with their Young Australian Professional of the Year award in 2010.
Currently, he is a ministerial appointee representing rural pharmacy on the Programs Reference Group of the 5th Community Pharmacy Agreement between the Commonwealth Government and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
Bruce enjoys a close working relationship with other health practitioners within Central Queensland and was proud to be a Board member of the Capricornia Division of General Practice between 2008 and 2010. He was a member of their Aged Care GP Panel, Governance Board sub-committee, Medicare Local transition working group and is currently, the inaugural Chairman of the Central Queensland Medicare Local.
Outside of work, Bruce has interests in Aviation and enjoys sampling beers and foods on his travels!
